We asked Osamu OMOTO, who assumed the position of Representative Director of the company, about the aims and his thoughts as a representative of the company.

From Disaster Prevention to Resilience Engineering

There is a high probability of a major Nankai Trough earthquake occurring. The Shikoku region, which would be hit particularly hard by widespread, powerful tremors and tsunamis, is expected to experience up to 260,000 casualties, damage to approximately 620,000 buildings, and the evacuation of approximately 1.27 million people. Shikoku Branch Office, which is on the front lines of this disaster, is taking various measures, including establishing a Shikoku Technical Section in 2024 and hosting study sessions with Professor Wataru SHIRAKI of Kagawa University, who chairs the Shikoku Nankai Trough Earthquake Countermeasures Strategy Council. The professor Wataru SHIRAKI and Hiroshi MORISAKI, Technical Executive Manager of Osaka Headquarters, Yosuke TANAKA of the Shikoku Technical Section at Shikoku Branch Office and Kazuto MATSUDA, also in the same section, discussed what efforts will be needed in the future to prepare for a major Nankai Trough earthquake.

Designing the Future with Intellectual Property Strategies

In October 2024, PACIFIC CONSULTANTS launched the Advanced Technology Center as an organization specializing in technological development functions. Obtaining intellectual property rights (patents) not only enhances a company's credibility as proof of high technological capabilities, but also contributes significantly to improving corporate value and strengthening its financial base by creating new businesses and securing licensing income. "Nation-wide Movement Statistics" Supports the Operation of the Osaka-Kansai Expo.

Since its opening on April 13th, the World Expo 2025, Osaka, Japan (Osaka-Kansai Expo.) has been bustling with visitors from Japan and abroad every day. Many private companies are providing free support to the operation of the venue as suppliers of equipment and services. Livening Up the Kanda Festival as a Member of the Local Neighborhood Association

PACIFIC CONSULTANTS relocated the Headquarters from Seiseki-Sakuragaoka in Tama City, Tokyo, to its current location in September 2015. This move also meant becoming a member of the Kanda Nishikicho 3-chome Neighborhood Association, known as the "Neighborhood Association closest to the Imperial Palace in Kanda" and the "Birthplace of Japan's first university (the University of Tokyo)," a distinctive educational district with many schools and campuses. The long-established neighborhood association is also committed to preserving the local tradition of the Kanda Festival, and PACIFIC CONSULTANTS is also participating in these activities. Terue KAMINO and Masanori IWATA of Architecture Dept., who have been actively involved in the festival since the relocation, Mizuki YASHIRO of Tunnel Dept. The 4th World Bosai Forum was Held

World Bosai Forum 2025 (World Bosai Forum 2025, hereafter WBF2025) was held in Sendai City from March 7 to 9, 2025. More than 5,000 people from 34 countries participated in total and actively exchanged opinions to promote the implementation of Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. PACIFIC CONSULTANTS supported the establishment of the Forum and has been active as a corporate supporter since then, holding sessions and exhibiting a booth during the event. 30 Years Since the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake

We have reached the 30th year of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. An increasing number of people of this generation either do not know or do not remember the earthquake. Now that the Nankai Trough earthquake is said to "could come at any time," it is a major mission of PACIFIC CONSULTANTS, which is involved in social infrastructure development, to pass on the memories of the earthquake and utilize them in disaster prevention, disaster mitigation, and BCPs. Managing Executive Officer, Mikiyo YAMADA, Director/Board Member, who was working at the Osaka Branch Office (now Osaka Headquarters) at the time of the earthquake, interviewed Shinichi KITADA of the Osaka Transportation Infrastructure Department's Earthquake Resistance Section, who was forced to live as an evacuee after the disaster in Kobe, while working on restoration and reconstruction.

The Development of the Kansai Economic Zone Paves the Way for Japan's Future

On April 13, 2025, the World Expo 2025 (Osaka-Kansai Expo), Japan, opened with the theme of "Designing a Future Society for Brightening Life." One Year After the Noto Peninsula Earthquake 2024

At 4:10 p.m. on January 1, 2024, a magnitude 7.6 earthquake occurred in the Noto region of Ishikawa Prefecture. In addition to a seismic intensity of 7 being observed in Wajima City and Shika Town, strong shaking was observed over a wide area of the Hokuriku region, causing severe damage to infrastructure due to landslides, river blockages, road collapses, and uplift in coastal areas. PACIFIC CONSULTANTS has been working on various recovery and reconstruction support activities since the disaster occurred, and is still continuing these efforts. We asked Yoshihiro MORINO, the head of Noto Recornstruction Engineering Office who spearheaded support activities on the site, and Katsuyoshi HAYASHI, General Manager of Hokuriku Branch Office in charge of the site, to look back for one year after the earthquake occurred.
